The rules and regulations for driving in La Palma are not that different from those in the UK, the major one being of course that the Spanish drive on the right hand side of the road.

- There may be a minimum age requirement for car rental
The 1,200 km of roads across the island include those that are narrow, bumpy and with sharp bends so be prepared. However, virtually all the roads can be negotiated with care in an ordinary car.
If you decide not to hire a car, there are several bus routes that unite the main localities on the island.
